Top Drawer Daycare was founded in 1974 by Jennifer Joyce as a small, home-based daycare in North Vancouver. With a reputation for exceptional childcare, the daycare was officially incorporated in 1989, soon expanding to operate out of Westlynn Baptist Church for the next eight years. After Jennifer’s passing in 2011, her daughter took over, continuing the legacy before selling the business to Lorraine van der Poel in 2014. For the following ten years, Lorraine and her husband Sarel ran the daycare with deep commitment and passion for the families they served.
In 2024, Lorraine and Sarel decided to retire after years of guiding Top Drawer Daycare with unparalleled kindness and dedication. Together, they aim to uphold the values Lorraine and Sarel built, creating a warm environment where children thrived and families felt deeply supported. Their legacy left a lasting impact, embodying the heart of the daycare and nurturing a true sense of community.
Marjan, a skilled Early Childhood Educator and founder of Honey Bunny Daycare, took up the leadership alongside her husband, Mo. To build on this foundation, Marjan invited her trusted friend Maryam, an accomplished educator, to join her as a partner. Together, they aim to uphold the values Lorraine and Sarel established while bringing fresh energy and innovative ideas to support children’s growth, learning, and happiness in a vibrant, welcoming environment.
